The Defender visited Gyumri special school N3 and the nursing home

On November 10, RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan visited the nursing home of Gyumri and the Gyumri special school N3 for mentally immature children. During the visit the relevant documents and human rights protection of children and people at the nursing home were examined

Prior to that, representatives of the Child Rights Protection Unit had had a three-day monitoring visit to seven child care and protection institutions in Gyumri.

After summarizing the results of the visit, it is intended to formulate recommendations and present them to competent authorities. Besides, the problems recorded in those institutions will be taken into consideration and activities will be carried out for solving them within the implementation of respective projects by the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

In the framework of the working visit, Arman Tatoyan, accompanied by the head of “Shirak Centre” non-governmental organisation, Vahan Tumasyan, visited “Moving Forwards” Children’s Development Centre, got familiarised with the out-of-school education methods of socially insecure children living in tin-houses. The Defender was presented with the centre’s capacities related to the provision of daily food to children, showering and hygiene maintenance. Directions of cooperation were discussed as well.
